Invigilator Team

Following a rigorous selection process, 11 early-career artists and curators and 7 students have been selected for the Cymru yn Fenis Wales in Venice  Invigilator Plus programme. They will supervise, monitor and maintain Wales’s exhibition, James Richards: Music for the gift at La Biennale di Venezia and will provide a vital interface with visitors to the exhibition.

As well as providing early-career artists and curators working in Wales with a chance to experience the Venice Biennale, Invigilator Plus provides important professional development opportunities.

This year, the programme will be a partnership between Arts Council of Wales, Cardiff School of Art and Design, Chapter and the artist-led organisation g39.  Cardiff School of Art and Design will support seven students in Venice and g39 have been commissioned by Chapter to develop and deliver a unique training programme for the team of invigilators.

The Invigilator Plus team will be part of the G39 programme UNIT(e), an alternative art school taking place in Cardiff in 2017.  This studio based research and development opportunity for artists and curators features a tailored programme of mentoring sessions and ongoing support for their practice. Each participant will spend at least a month in Venice and will work in teams of three. Details of their research projects are below.
